What is Marketplace coverage?

Marketplace coverage is individual and family health insurance offered through the official exchange created under the Affordable Care Act. Plans are grouped by metal level (such as Bronze, Silver, and Gold), which reflects how you and the plan share costs.

What is Georgia Access?

Georgia Access is Georgia's state-based health insurance Marketplace. Georgians shop for and enroll in Marketplace coverage through Georgia Access, either directly or with help from a licensed agent or broker.

Who may enroll?

Generally, Georgia residents who aren't enrolled in Medicare and meet citizenship or lawful-presence requirements may apply. Whether you qualify for help paying premiums depends on your household and income and is decided during the application — we can't promise eligibility in advance.

Open enrollment, special enrollment, and qualifying life events

Open Enrollment is the yearly window when anyone can apply. Outside that window, you'll usually need a qualifying life event — such as losing other coverage, getting married, having a baby, or moving — to use a Special Enrollment Period. These have deadlines, so reach out soon after a change.

Household and income information you'll need

When you apply, you'll be asked about:

  • Who is in your tax household
  • Your expected household income for the coverage year
  • Any current coverage, including job-based coverage offers
  • Your doctors and prescriptions, so we can compare plans that fit

Comparing plans

We look beyond the monthly premium: deductibles, copays, out-of-pocket maximums, provider networks, and whether your prescriptions are covered. The goal is coverage that matches how you actually use care.
